Lack of Motivation

I am nearly as fat as I have ever been.

I hate looking at myself in pictures.

My clothes don't fit.

I want to change.

Yet I binge.

Why can't I get motivated?

I don't think I am depressed, but I can't stand myself.

What is left?

Help me internet, you are my only hope.

Sing it, sister. Ugh, I've been feeling exactly the same. I just started the EA Sports 30 Day Challenge on the Wii. Figured it was better than nothing, since I'm clearly unable to drag my fat ass to the gym. So far: damn, it's a no-joke workout! Also, I'm doing a challenge with two other friends, and whoever loses the most in 30 days (percentage-wise) gets taken out by the other two. Social support and a financial(ish) reward, I think I read those two things are big indicators of weight loss success or something? Can't remember.

So, can you find somebody willing to bet you $100 on who can lose more in a month? :-)

May the force be with you. (And me, too.)

I'm happy to help you in any way I can. I have been doing weight watchers off and on since I was a teenager, and it really does work. After I had my daughter last year I joined up again and have lost 30 pounds. I only have 10 more to go, but it's been five months of losing and gaining the same four pounds, and I'm no closer to my goal than I was in March. It's really frustrating, and I don't really have many people I can go to for support, so maybe we could help each other. I know you're probably thinking 'Whatever, ten pounds. Big deal' but to have come so far only to be stuck on the last 25% of your goal feels horrible. Especially when it feels like everyone else at my meetings is making such great progress and I'm just stuck in a rut, week after week.

There's much more to it than I'm comfortable posting on here, but if you want to contact me privately I'd love to chat. My name is Taylor, and my email is acerbic (dot) lollipops (at) gmail.com.

If I don't hear back from you, I wish you the best of luck, and I'll still follow your blog and cheer you on.

If it helps at all, I think you're crazy pretty.

You're pretty competitive right? Start a Biggest Loser type group amongst your friends.

Each person puts $10-$20 in the pot, choose an end date and whoever loses the most (by %) wins the pot. It's great motivation!

Our group did a 4 month challenge with monthly weigh ins. About 8 of us collectively lost about 120 lbs during those 4 months.

Even if you don't win the $ you'll think of those weigh ins every time you eat!

You should really consider getting tested for food intolerances/allergies. If your weight is related to a gluten intolerance, for example, all the dieting and exercising in the world won't solve the weight issue ... or it maybe, but temporarily or you may lose the weight and then develop other health issues that can be related to gluten (like headaches). Seriously, check on the food intolerance issues before beating yourself up.

I could have written this. It sucks. If it helps at all (and I know it probably doesn't because we all see ourselves very different from how others see us), I think you look great. I really do. Frankly, you could be an aspirational photo for me. :)
