Double Shame

I didn't want to talk about this but I'm not seeing a way around explaining the extra weight.

I quit smoking about eight months ago.

Yes, I know. There is no reason that a grown woman with children should have been smoking cigarettes in the first place. I quit a long time ago before the twins were born. Then one thing led to another and I found myself sneaking smokes in my garage when the kids were napping.

Anyway, that is not the point. The point is that I quit.

That was the good news.

The bad news is that quitting smoking wrecks havoc on a diet.

So I am fatter than I was last year at BlogHer time and I HATE that.

Can anyone recommend a good detox or cleanse of some sort? I need a kick start.

Having my gallbladder removed worked pretty well for me this week. 7 lbs down and counting. Of course I can't walk upright. What? You didn't mean major abdominal surgery did you? Afraid I can't help then. Sigh.

Actually, I'm very impressed that you quit smoking. That's far more important than a few pounds.

Congratulations on quitting smoking! My mom says quitting was the hardest thing she's ever done. Harder than childbirth. So- I'm with Annette- good job quitting!

This is hardly an official cleanse, but when I need a kick start, I try to eat only fruits and veggies and water for 2 or 3 days. Nothing else. I buy up a wide variety of fruit and veggie stuff (no potatoes or onions or other starchy things), and see if I can make it three days eating as much as I want, but only fruits and veggies. It usually works.

I smoked for many years and although I quit while pregnant I was soon smoking again so I know how hard it can be to quit. So good for you! But I don't have an answer to your question- just wanted to say to not go too hard on yourself.
